Montego
Bay is deservedly one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. Over
the years it has attracted the rich and the famous, and been the haunt of
royalty. Many of their luxury villas still grace the hills with fabulous sea
views. The bay offers wonderful beaches and the town has lots to offer. The town
of Montego Bay is divided into two distinct areas, the residential and the
tourist. The former is largely to the south of Sam Sharpe Square and west of St.
James Street until its junction with Barnett Street. The main tourist part of
town, paced with vendors, stall, hagglers and hustlers, is east of Sam Sharpe
Square nearer the waterfront, and most of the main resorts and hotels are to the
north, between the town and the Sir Donald Sangster International Airport, or
east of it. There are many water sports available there and you can book trips
and excursions from many places including the hotel. There are superb
restaurants serving traditional Jamaican food and there is something for
everyone’s tastes.

Iberostar Rose Hall Reviews
We just
got married at Iberostar Rose Hall with a group of 24 people. Let me first say,
do not read all the bad reviews and drive your self crazy wondering if it is the
right resort for you or not. It was amazing...the lobbies and bar areas are all
beautiful, the rooms are very nice and if you get an ocean view they are even
nicer. The showers were GREAT!! we had two 5 year olds and they were always
entertained, there was always something to do on the beach or at the pool. And
it is a smaller resort so everyone knows your name and its easier to get
around. The entertainment was fun at night too and there was always somewhere
to get a drink and just relax. The pool was closed at night which I didn't like
but sometimes we still went in anyways...and there was no hot tub which was
disappointing but not a big deal.
Overall, the food was Great! The hibachi was so fun and very good. The filet at
the steakhouse was wonderful, and the scallops at the Cajun was awesome too.
Everyone in my group are restaurant connoisseurs and they loved the food. The
buffet always had tons of choices, and everyone was so nice and willing to get
or make you anything. I don't know what people were eating that had bad reviews
about the food because everything I had was great and different too!
Gift shop was wavy overpriced but you can go over to tent city off the resort to
buy the same stuff, go with a guy though. The water was a little disappointing,
murky, and sea weedy, but snorkeling was still fun and the temperature was just
right.
I would definitely go back, especially for the price, we paid $912 a person for
5 nights, you can't beat that at such a nice resort. It was beautiful. I will
write a wedding review next about our wedding, but the resort in general was
amazing and the staff excellent!
*********
I also
was there during Bahamaman's stay - our second visit. The resort is absolutely
fantastic - I also wonder if the people with negative reviews stayed at the same
resort ? Too much shade ?? - there is at least 200 feet of sunny beach from the
trees toward the dive shop - if tired of the shade then move to the sun - I
agree with George that in the summer the shade will be awfully nice. Food there
is absolutely terrific - Angela the head chef does an outstanding job. The
pastry chef is an artist. I read there are some unhappy people because there is
not enough Jamaican food - I counted at least 5 Jamaican dishes at every meal
including jerk chicken every day for lunch. The dive operation there run by
Gaston is first-class. The entire staff at the resort is totally dedicated to
ensure guest satisfaction from the maid (Joy who remembered what room # we
stayed in 3 months ago) to the house boys to the chefs (Eroll and Lynval who
shared their recipes with me) to the senior staff (Dwight the bar manager and
Ivan the restaurant manager), Loreto the Manager of Guest Relations and the
Philipp the Managing Director. We made so many friends there who made our trip
so special and memorable. We will luckily go back at our first opportunity next
year. I am saddened to have left and to be sitting in 10" of snow right here in
Boston today - but I can almost see/feel the Jamaican sun because of all the
special memories. When the resort is completed next year it will be a jewel in
the Iberostar chain. Great job, Philipp and Loreto!!!
