Iberostar Playa Alameda Review
Most enjoyable!
In April, my husband and I spent a week at Iberostar Playa Alameda. We
were traveling with one other couple and our rooms were located in the
same villa but on different levels. Our villa was close to the beach as
well as the pool, but all 4 of us prefer the beach so that is where we
spent our time. The guys who looked after getting loungers were great
and would remember our favorite spot and save it for us for a small fee.
The beach was clean and water was crystal clear! Service at the beach
bar was very good.
The food at Iberostar Playa Alameda was good and lots of variety. We
especially enjoyed lunch on the days they had the bbq near the pool and
that was quite frequent. One evening there was a special buffet meal
held outside by the pool...the variety in that buffet was unlike any we
had seen on previous trips to Cuba...they even had sushi!!! There were
lots of decorations made out of fruits and vegetables, the tables were
covered with white table cloths with napkins.
Waiters/waitresses served wine and a 5 piece band entertained us during
the meal. The staff who greeted guests at the entrance to the main
dining room were always friendly and smiling as were the ones who worked
inside the dining area. The gal who looked after our room was wonderful
and always had a surprise creation in our room and often little bunches
of fresh flowers were given to us by the gardener.
Every day when on the beach, a staff member would make the rounds
talking to guests to makes sure all was ok with their visit. That made
us feel like we were important to them. Alexis, a member of the
entertainment staff ,was very friendly and did a great job with the the
nightly entertainment by the lobby bar. We took in a few of the shows at
the theatre and really enjoyed the acrobatic team. The ice cream at this
resort was absolutely delicious...they even had coconut ice cream..our
favorite...I only wish we could get it here in Canada!!! The gal who
worked in the ice cream hut was such a sweetie!
Mosquitoes were a problem but not as bad for me as at other resorts in
Cuba. We have no complaints about service in any of the restaurants or
at the bars and enjoyed both the Romantico and Italian A La Carte
Restaurants but we didn't find the atmosphere as nice as it was in the A
La Cartes and Tryp Peninsula. We did the Jeep Safari and would recommend
that as an excursion. Be sure to take some bottled water and sun screen,
the trip is hot and dusty at times but lots of fun! I know this resort
was closing for some renovations and I am curious to know just what was
done to it. We would highly recommend it and would return there again!
